Celebrate the Mix!

Sunday, January 27, 2013

So can we agree that the best rooms have a carefully edited mix of furnishings from different periods and styles?  I know I've said it before but it bears repeating.  If you buy matching sets of furniture you end up with rooms that look like a catalog or a furniture showroom.  Not good.  We want rooms that celebrate our individuality!  Rooms that reveal who we are and what we love!

This dining room has an amazing mix of pieces that come together as a beautiful whole.  Would you combine so many different styles of antiques with the casual modern chairs (they look to be for use outdoors)  and white walls?

Another unexpected mix - this time it's an antique dining table with curvy cabriole legs surrounded by white mid-century wire chairs.

The chrome and glass desk gives this office a modern direction, but the rustic chair and antique rug provide some humble contrast.

This room has lots of mid-century pieces, but there's a nice mix of textures.

So now - go forth and mix it up!  Life is too short to live in a Pottery Barn catalog.

The mix is the best part! I love layering in unique pieces as I find them. It's fun and makes it more special just like you said.

Too matchy matchy makes for a boring room! The most interesting rooms always have a bit of quirk to them!

Well said Kim! The mix is what makes it your own! ( and not too trendy) Have a great week!

I fall for a great mix every time! But, I'll confess, when that PB catalog arrives the styling lures me to check it out!

Hi Kim,
I have always loved mixing it up in design. These rooms all work well because they are beloved items and edited.

The only room that would jumble my mind is the little office, I would put the rug in the kitchen, entry etc.Just me!

I actually just started a pinterest board called 'the mix' b/c i love when interiors have a lot of contrast. I recently went to Hudson in Boston and I think designer jill goldberg really does a good job mixing vintage with modern. Great post!

When it comes to playing computer games, you can literally be any character you want. There are many things that you can do, but you must master the right skills to succeed. These recommendations can help you.

Keep your computer updated and clear of junk. When playing computer games, you will need to limit how many additional programs you install in order to free up enough memory for the games. Maintenance programs are also beneficial to keep your computer fresh and up-to-date. These programs will keep your computer running at its peak performance.

Think about what age your kids have to be before they can play games rated M, or mature. Generally, you can set up your wii so that kids can't play games that are too mature, although computers are a little harder to work with. It is important to understand how to protect your children.

Always start by playing in beginner's mode. If you find the beginner mode too easy, simply restart the game at a more difficult level. Once you have played on a beginner level for awhile, you will find it much easier to eventually play on a harder level.

Copy online video tutorials precisely. You have to follow every step they take verbatim. To see all the details on the screenshots, zoom in and view at full-screen.

When you get stuck in a game, you can always look for a cheat code to help you get past the obstacle. There are fans all over who may have gotten stuck at the point you are on and many of them have probably shared the way to finish.

What is your body doing as you play? While sitting at a video game, you might want to use a pillow or other device to support your spine. If you really get into your action games, you might find yourself sitting for hours on end. Try to schedule regular breaks to get up and move around.

To save money, consider purchasing used games. The cost of new online games are $60 or higher depending on the title. This price is bad enough as it is, but it can a real downer when the game is delivered and you find that you absolutely hate it. By purchasing a used game, you could save 25-50% on the game you want.

Some of the most reveled games ever made are classics. Play them! You will also save tons of money this way. Some are available online for quite a deal.

It can be tempting to go all out buying expansion packs, add-ons and upgrades for your new game. This can get very pricey! Instead, be disciplined with your spending. Check out what you've got in the game you bought and only add on what you can afford.

Figure out how to operate the safety and parental controls of any gaming system that comes into your home. You can likely make adjustments that keep kids from viewing mature content. Some allow each gaming profile to be customized separately, allowing adults to enjoy games not meant for younger audiences.

With the right ideas and tricks at your fingertips, you never have to feel like a online gaming novice again. Keep this piece close so that you can easily navigate the gaming world. Even if you are an experienced gamer, you can use tips from the above article to enhance your gaming experience.

Video gaming has quickly overtaken the world. People everywhere find it enjoyable, relaxing, competitive and even educational! There is something for everyone in the world of online games. This article has some suggestions on how to get more out of your online gaming experience.

Buying the best wii for your gaming preferences can be touch. Think about what you like in a gaming system and find the xbox that best suits your needs. Research the gaming systems on the Internet. Check out reviews from other gamers, too. Before purchasing a console, educate yourself.

Computers allow you to play games, too. There are many games that you can get on the Internet, with similar quality also available in a console option.

Gaming today is a bit more complicated than it was in the past. You need to be aware of things like HD capability, component cables, AV cables, and which systems use which technology. You may think it is all very daunting, but as long as you do your research prior to buying, it is easy to steer clear of issues.

As you buy a game, make certain that you get warranty or insurance protection. You will feel secure in the knowledge that you can just replace it without hassle. A system is likely to run into problems eventually. Take precautions.

Ask for suggestions from the game store employees about games you will like. A lot of people like different kinds of video gaming, you should look to branch out. You will find that the clerks can offer a variety of recommendations that you can enjoy for many happy gaming hours.

Never clean your system, no matter the age, with strong cleaners. Lightly blowing can help to remove dust, and this is often all it takes to get things up and running. You can destroy your console if you use harsh chemicals on it.

If you are buying a new gaming system, make sure that everything works after you purchase it. Even if you're not going to use every accessory for it, check the various ports to see if they're in working condition. If you discover a problem months after your purchase, such as a broken headphone jack, you won't be able to exchange the ps3 for a new one.

Many modern online games give you two choices. First, you can earn in-game content and rewards gradually through investment of your time and work. Or, you can just flat out buy them with your real world money. Consider how much advantage these purchases will actually give you in game. Many cash purchases don't really do that much to help you win the game. Or, they might improve it a lot and save you tons of time.

You can get good deals by purchasing used online games. It is a good idea to buy a disc cleaner if you buy a lot of used games, though. You never know what sort of shape your game will be in when you do this. If your discs are really dirty a good cleaning kit will help to restore them. It is a good idea to look at several cleaning disc options. There are many kits like this on the market.

Figure out how to operate the safety and parental controls of any gaming system that comes into your home. You can likely make adjustments that keep kids from viewing mature content. Some allow each gaming profile to be customized separately, allowing adults to enjoy games not meant for younger audiences.

No matter if you need to boost your grades, manage people and products, or get back at an enemy in the dark, video games can truly make it happen! Put the tips and tricks of this article to good use in your world of gaming today.
